Impact United Soccer Club

Recreation spring season wait list registration is now open. Spring registration is on a space available basis. Because the majority of our teams are formed in the fall for the full year, players are registered in the spring only if there is a space available on an existing team or if there are enough players on the wait list in a specific age group to create a new team. Players wishing to join an existing team must have the coach contact the registrar through email to give their permission to add the player to their roster. Spring season games will start March 27th.

Impact United Soccer Club is proud to announce that we have partnered with the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) to present “College Recruiting Simplified” on Thursday, January 28th, 2010 at 7:00pm at Cottonwood Sports Center.

Impact United Soccer Club is one of over 3,000 “College Recruiting Simplified” locations for the 2010-2011 school year. Weber State College All-Conference Decathlon champion Paul Putnam will guide parents and student-athletes through the importance of establishing athletic and academic goals, setting realistic expectations and seeking opportunities at all college levels. Attendees learn valuable tips on finding the best college based on their student-athletes’ academic and athletic abilities. Most importantly, “College Recruiting Simplified” reiterates that the most valuable goal anyone should strive for is a college education.

Topics covered include:

  • The benefits of playing collegiate sports
  • Understanding whether your student-athlete is really being recruited
  • Strategies on how to maximize an athlete’s recruiting potential
  • Is Division I the only option?
  • Timelines for college recruiting
  • The importance of character and keeping good grades
  • The 5 things every student-athlete has to do in order to get recruited

For questions regarding “College Recruiting Simplified,” contact NCSA Speaker Event Coordinator, Jaclyn Thomas, at jthomas@ncsasports.org 312-624-7446.

The BU13 Black team dominated fall season play to win first place in UYSA BU13 D1 Division. An outstanding work ethic in practices and in games is one of the attributes of this fantastic group of players. 2 years ago the team started the rebuilding process under the direction of Yamil Castillo. This year under the coaching of Luis Sanes they continued their success!!! Congratulations to all the players, parents and coaching staff for their great contributions to the team success!!!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Impact Soccer has roughly 2800 boys and girls in its recreational program and 500 boys and girls (and young men and women) in its competition program, with ages ranging from 4 to 18. These players are organized into about 300 teams that play several thousand games over the course of the year. The teams use dozens of fields, more dozens of nets, balls, cones and vests, and are supervised and supported by dozens of coaches and referees. And of course, these players, coaches and referees are supported by even more dozens of parents and volunteers who somehow make it all work out for the good of the players and the game. Somewhere above all of the fun activity on the field are the Impact Board of Directors. The members of the Board put in a fair amount of time setting policy, establishing and maintaining budgets, and generally working with staff to make sure that all of the many elements that need to be in place are in place so that all of the on-the-field activity can go on (with, hopefully, only an occasional hitch). Currently your Board consists of Loren Mott, Jennifer Madsen, Troy Bagley, Vicki Bennett, Cheri Jackson and Steve Hull, all of whom are also actively supporting their kids and teams in recreation and/or competition play. The Board sees its purpose as carrying out the wishes and visions of the players, coaches and parents. Sometimes good ideas come from the Board, but in the long run, the input of coaches and parents is vital to sustaining and improving Impact Soccer. Each member of the Board hopes that she or he is always approachable in this regard and welcomes your questions and solicits your input. So if you see us around, feel free to talk soccer.

P.S. If you are interested, or if you know someone who might be interested, in serving on the Board, let one of us know.

Steve Hull
